Ingredients 200 g marzipan (e.g. Lemke Simply Pure ) |
2 red apples 275 g puff pastry |
powdered sugar for sprinkling |
Here's how: Roll out the marzipan flat between baking paper and then cut into thin strips. Roll out the puff pastry and cut lengthways into strips. Core the apples, halve them and cut or slice them into thin slices. Cover the first strip of puff pastry with apple slices, overlapping them, place the marzipan strips on top and fold over the bottom edge of the dough. Roll up to the middle to form a rose. Then roll up the second part of the strip. Repeat the steps with the rest of the dough. Place the roses in a baking tin lined with baking paper and bake in a preheated oven at 220 degrees top/bottom heat for around 30 minutes. After 15 minutes, turn off the top heat and place baking paper on top (this prevents the roses from turning black). Sprinkle with icing sugar while still warm. |
Tip: Baked individually in small muffin tins, they are as decorative as they are handy. |
